Marilyn Boulton
Harpist (Concert Harp & Clarsach) & Pianist
Marilyn Boulton has studied at the Royal College of Music in London, where she was a prize winner. She subsequently pursued a career as a chamber musician and teacher, giving concerts both in the UK and Europe. Her versatility extends to playing the harp, clarsach and piano in a wide range of styles. As well as conducting choirs and orchestras, which included Kent Youth Choir and the Symphony Orchestra, Chorus and Chamber Choir at the University of St Andrews.
For sixteen years she was Director of Music at St Leonards School, St Andrews and when she left to resume a freelance career, a colleague in the music department described her time there as 'a golden era in St Leonards music'. She is currently resident harpist at the five star Old Course Hotel in St Andrews and plays regularly at the 5 star Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. She has played at many weddings and corporate functions in venues such as The Royal Yacht Britannia, the Museum of Scotland and Hopetoun House Edinburgh.
