The Iain Thomson Band

Celtic, Scottish and Contemporary Music

Iain Thomson is known as the singing shepherd and is Scottish folk singing at its best! The Iain Thomson Band is a trio that plays a mix of traditional and modern songs, plus many originals written by Iain himself. The trio includes Iain plus Gregor Lowry, a superb Scottish accordionist and Marc Duff, a brilliant multi-instrumentalist and features flute, whistles, bouzouki and bodhran. Gregor Lowry has played with many bands including Ceilidh Minogue and Jazzamataz, and Marc is a very gifted musician and formerly of the legendary Capercaillie.

Iain's songs epitomise contemporary rural Scotland with great beauty, depth and power. His rich and clear voice lifts the spirits and transports you to Scotland's many wonderful places. The trio is a fun and lively band that will make any ceilidh evening one to remember.

words from Iain:
"As I pursued my dream of being a shepherd I met shepherds, farmers and gamekeepers of old. Men who played and sung of the land they worked. I still live that life and believe that it is dying out. My song writing and music and the inspiration for it come from the land I work and the people I meet. My music is part of me and my lifestyle."
