The Reel Fling are a three piece Ceilidh band, offering upbeat, energetic and innovative entertainment. Each member has at least 12 years of playing experience and a high level of musicianship. It is this wide array of musical interest that allows The Reel Fling to merge traditional Scottish music with modern rhythms and arrangements.

We have been entertaining audiences with our modern take on traditional music, with increasing popularity over the 5 years we have been playing together. During this time we have performed at many venues all over the country, including Culcreuch Castle in Fintry, The Albert Hall in Nottingham, Armadale Castle on Skye, as well as regular events at Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute.

Our uniqueness comes from our energy and enthusiasm that we bring to every single night. Thought goes into preparing for every function, to ensure the enjoyment of our audience. Our professionalism is carried over into our sound, our performance and our appearance; we always endeavour to get the best sound possible for each venue.

The band has been playing extensively and caters for all occasions from birthdays, weddings to graduation balls and have played in a variety of venues all over Scotland including Edinburgh Corn Exchange, Faslane Naval Base and Mount Stuart House in Rothesay. The Reel Fling uses a pool of established players to give the band talent, quality and flexibility. To add to the enjoyment of the evening they have prize dances that includes some light hearted games.

The Reel Fling also offers Disco entertainment via a Laptop, playing a selection of songs from 60's to latest chart hits.

To keep you in step the band has a caller that can talk you and your guests through the dances. They own all of their sound and lighting equipment and can cater for most sizes of function room. All equipment is Portable Appliance Tested (PAT).

Before the Ceilidh band was established each player had been playing for many years on their own. David Ritchie who plays the Accordion has been playing since the tender age of 5. Other than being a Ceilidh Accordionist he also plays classical music and has competed in many classical competitions and placed first in many of the national competitions. Iain Anderson has been playing drums for the last 8 years and has had experience in many musical ensembles. He started playing in the local BB Marching Band performing at many events including a tour of Canada, and then progressed to play in many high school bands including concert bands, jazz band and orchestra. Graeme Richmond is the newest member of the band and plays the accordion. He brings a wealth of talent having been successful in many national competitions over the years and gaining successful entry to the Royal Scottish Academy Of Music and Drama. Gordon Turner plays both the drums and the guitar. He has been playing the drums since he was 9 years old and has played in a variety of school and local authority school orchestras.
